At House on the Hill Paediatric Therapy Services in Canberra, we provide Psychology services for children and parents / carers. Psychologists can help with a range of difficulties including (but not limited to) Anxiety, Depression, Grief and Loss, Trauma, Relationship Conflict, and Life Transitions.

Psychologists are trained in the science of human behaviour and have an understanding of the biopsychosocial factors that contribute to how an individual thinks, feels, and behaves. Every person’s story is unique and psychologists apply a range of therapeutic interventions to meet the specific needs of the individual. Many psychologists will complete additional training to specialise in certain areas, so the Psychologist will let you know if your referral / enquiry is outside of their scope of practice.
At House on the Hill we provide psychological support and intervention for individuals of all ages, but please note we Do Not provide psychological assessments for NDIS purposes.
What to Expect
Meeting someone new for the first time can sometimes raise uncomfortable feelings. This is normal and the feelings will often pass as you get to know the therapeutic space and your psychologist. Although psychologists receive similar training, each still brings some of their unique self to the therapeutic experience and it’s possible you may feel we’re not the right “fit” for you or your family. We are comfortable to discuss these issues with families as working relationships are important to delivering an effective service.
The first session will involve getting to know you and obtaining relevant background information to assist with understanding the difficulties or challenges you are facing. Together we will develop intervention goals for the therapeutic process.
When we provide supports for children, the first session will be with the parent / carer only. We all exist within systems, and it’s important to determine how children can best be supported. Psychological support can be provided to just the child or parent / carer, but ideally all will be involved in the process.
